Folkart Flora and Fauna

I have been painting now for three good years, mainly half hearted and rudderless, but this last year I pushed myself. I found my charted route, the wind in my sales and a compass pointing to where I would head.

I asked for feedback, I studied, I poured over fine art books, learnt about colour, mediums, glazes, washes, acrylics, pencils, and delved into what made me feel joy, what got me excited.

I found I loved folkart, strong colour, layered shades like a poster, graphic. I collected over 100 images of bird paintings I admired, their feathers as my main area of study.  Coupled with my Poultry Science studies, it was the obvious partner.

I got a good response, sold four paintings in the first couple of weeks and commissions for more.

So here is a selection. My last was the woodpecker and I now feel confident to push a little harder with accurate botanical and detailed feathering.

I think I have finally found my style. πŸ™‚
