Pretty in mauve

Garages get neglected. Often left full of unloved or spare things. Full of cobwebs and oil stains. Sometimes with doors too stuck to even open.

When we bought the atelier in Gouzon, an ex paint factory, it came with a house in bad repair. We are currently decorating it after our tenants left and it’s due to now be an exhibition space and for courses. This week I tackled the garage and tomorrow I will get into the other small back room, equally unloved.

Final reveal.
Contacting colours.
Walls all painted.

This room has potential and after advertising on our local community, we found a lovely florist who needs a small space every Saturday.  Well I am onto it.

First a clean and the wardrobe thoroughly washed.next I used Crepi filler, popular in France to fill all the cracks and holes in the walls.  Next a couple of coats of paint and then painting the wardrobe. The dark mauve covers all the scuffs, water stains and gives a real pop of colour. It’s a great foil for flowers and leaves and when the doors are open in summer, a lovely backdrop.

Finally some antique hooks to go in the beam to hang baskets and dried flowers and we can welcome our lovely florist to our home. I’m the long term a wood floor will be laid, new doors and it can be a very nice office space. ♡

Walnut, but been unloved.
These can actually as side panels.
Mess.
The walls need filling.
